This is such a beautiful tribute to honor Kristen. I am amazed and inspired by your strength and so proud to be your friend. I wish I could have gotten to know Kristen better, but her warmth and spirit always shined through in her letters to me. I would always say wow, this girl has been through so much, and is still going through so much, but somehow always finds the time to write letters to me, someone she never met. “It could have been me/us” will stay with me forever and in all that I do. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. I know you will do this. Enjoy the ride and stay away from Jeff and the Guinness =) Love ya, Germaine

Just getting back to work this wk.
Got really sick this wk/end 102ish fever for two days.
Don’t know if that’s what triggered my subconscious or not but, I kept flashing back to the Booty Loop Ride that will be going on this wk/end and of course Kristen.
The Booty Loop images were going round and round the Booty Loop in the pouring down rain.
No big deal there.
But the images of Kristen was of her smile, I kept seeing a big happy smile.
I really haven’t thought about her much this past year, but for some reasons I kept seeing her smile.
The thing that’s strange is I don’t ever remember thinking she had a unusually nice or happy smile.
Weldon she’s smiling down on you.

Hi Weldon. It was great to meet you this weekend.
Thanks for pulling me into the “Grey Train” for that last hour! That will be one of my most vivid memories of this unforgettable event.
Continued:
I pulled anther ‘century’ this afternoon; that’s another 100 miles. My 24 hour total was 250 miles + a 3 mile parade lap at the finish. There was time when the achievement was in jeopardy. I needed to ride another 25 miles in an hour and 45 minutes. My lap times were slowing, I was almost out of water and a pit stop would be costly. As I stopped for water I saw the Donald Haak team , aka “the gray train” go by. I joined the group and the miles started piling up. I reached 250 mile with 15 minutes to spare. I took a break then joined the parade lap. I owe many thanks for today’s century to the monster pulls of Scott, Jan and Brian of the gray train, David and his cheering girl and Rollin.
Continued:
After a shower and some food (Dinner#1) I went back out there. I rode at leeast 50 miles on a fixed gear bike (42×15) . That makes the total over 150 miles (100 road/50 fixed. THanks to Claire, Rollin and Kevin for the great twighlight ride.
Just a quick note.
I hit 100 miles just after 1am. I got in great rides with Rollin and Kevin, Bates and the Donald Haack team. My motivation is very high, I feel amazing. Thanks for all the support!!

All of us who had the pleasure of being part of your lives know that you’ve made Kristen’s love and energy a part of you that you will carry forever. Weldon, I can’t thank you enough for all that you do in Kristen’s memory and for the overall cause of the cure for cancer. As her aunt, I have so many wonderful memories of babysitting her when she was little and she has always been a very special creation of God. We love you and miss you and hope that your life is going well.
Again, thank you for all that you did for her when she was alive, and also for what you are doing in her memory.

“It could have been me.” Man, that’s heap-powerful stuff, and words we should all carry with us wherever we go. We very recently had a close call with cancer in our family, so the timing of this hits home in a Big Scary Way. Belated as they may be, particularly considering how many times we’ve sat across from one another at the poker table, please accept my condolences on your loss. Good luck, ride safe, and hopefully I’ll see you at the tables (if not over a pint of Guinness) soon.

I never met Kristen, but from all of the stories you’ve told me, and the things that I have heard about her, I know she was an amazing woman. I wish I could have known her.
Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration to us all. Not everyone is strong enough to go through what you did and make the effort you are making now. You are helping a lot of people who don’t have the strength.
