2nd Place! (900+ riders)

The Podium

This year the team consisted of 24 riders and volunteers from 5 states. We raised funds and trained for the event for over two months. As a team, we had 2+ riders on the course from the start to the rainy finish. Individually we stopped for food, water, sleep, pictures and friends [old and new] and memories. Thank you for your support!

Kathy and Ray, and Shannon, Stacey and Ray Jr. made this year the most special to me.

I’d like to thank a few members of the team that helped me raise funds.

Mackenzie (3rd year) :As a 3 year veteran of the event, Mackenzie took this years challenge to the next level—fund raising!

.

Mike (rookie): Mike recently suffered a tough loss. His motivation for the event was obvious all around.Mike did everything that team members are supposed to do. He raised a ton of funds for me, trained and came through during the event. As a busy family man, Mike somehow executed a training regime. Mike signed up for some consecutive ‘hot’ shifts in the sun during the event and rode beyond his goal.

.

Beverly (2nd year): The ‘Captain’s Girlfriend’ spot on the roster is a tough place during a memorial for his wife. Beverly demonstrated compassion and grace through out the planning and the event itself. Beverly raised a bunch of funds for me. She rode the night shift and made the start and finish despite running her business that weekend.

.

Kevin F. (2nd year): Kevin was an old friend of Kristen’s. He clearly does this event for her. He raises funds for me, takes ridiculous, inconvenient shifts, and never complains. I think he took 11pm and 4am this year. Ouch.

.

.

Chris (3rd year): It’s always good to have an iron man on an endurance team. Chris gets going and knocks off consecutive shifts while the rest of us are still sleeping. Chris raises funds for me and puts in the laps of two or three people.

.

.

Marcus (rookie): Marcus is an experienced rider that joined the team from a friend of a friend. Marcus raised funds for me with so many different sponsors, you just know he’ll be paying people back all year.

.

Rollin (3rd year): Rollin is an experienced cyclist that always adds something to the event. This year Rollin hand built a bike rack for our team. He raised a ton of funds for me. And, this year again, he rode consecutive night shifts.

.

Special recognition

Ray (2nd year): Ray served as a volunteer last year. He promised to ride this year and made good. Ray sported his armband lap after lap and really got a workout. If you count the commute from Texas, Ray gets the distance award. Great job, Ray.

.

.

Tony (3rd year): A car accident left Tony on roster as ‘Questionable’. At game time, the answer was ‘Go’. Tony rode like a pro and pulled me around when I needed it. He makes the trip from Florida each year.

.

.

Kevin M (2nd year): Kevin lives in the neighborhood and does the event like a good neighbor. He raises mad funds for me, involves his family, recruirts his buddies, rides the early dawn shifts, etc…. Thanks Kevin.

.

.

Jeff (rookie): Jeff was in town on business. When Aldo’s flight was delayed in Denver, Jeff transformed from my biggest sponsor to a rider. He did Aldo’s laps on a borrowed bike with a child sized helmet. Turns out Jeff is still in shape.

.

.

Ted (rookie): I recruited Ted with very lilttle time to train and raise funds. He jumped right into the program—raising funds for me and training hard. He is already preparing for next year.
